Meet the Beats!
Andrew Purcell sings, writes songs, and wishes he could still play the piano like he could when he was seventeen. He is father to Liam (almost four) and Noah (barely two months). As a full-time journalist and occasional music writer, he’s had the privilege of interviewing Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, David Byrne, Debbie Harry, Johnny Marr, Grandmaster Flash and Grover from Sesame Street. He can never decide whether to exaggerate or abandon his English accent when he sings.
Charles Michelet plays drums, ukulele, and guitar – although rarely at the same time. He is father to Anya (3 1/2) and occasionally draws pictures for a living. Charles has performed in guitar orchestras with Glenn Branca and Rhys Chatham in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and London and is still searching for the perfect pizza slice.
Dan Loomis Needs a bio.
Yuri Weber, Father to Adrian (4) and Elliot (18 Months) sings and plays guitar and autoharp. He is the cheese and fine foods buyer at the Park Slope Food Coop and has performed on the same stage as artists as diverse as Dan Zanes, Stan Ridgeway (from Wall of Voodoo) and Henry Rollins. He love avocados.
